Oppenheimer became one of the important figures and scientists who graced world history in the second half of the 20th century. Julius Robert Oppenheimer was an American theoretical physicist who was born on April 22, 1904 and died on February 18, 1967.

Oppenheimer is best known for his role in the Manhattan Project, the secret United States-led project to develop the atomic bomb during World War II. He was appointed director of the Los Alamos laboratory in New Mexico, the main research site for the Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer was one of the project’s intellectual leaders and was instrumental in designing and developing the first atomic bombs, which were later dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

After the war, Oppenheimer became the principal adviser to the United States government on nuclear policy. However, in 1954, he was denounced and had his security license revoked by the US government after being suspected of having ties with communists during his youth. Despite this, he continued to contribute to theoretical physics and education until his death.
